“What if we made it even warmer?” This was the question from the Mountain Equipment climbing team and staff who use the Oreus Jacket day after day in winter, searching out snow and ice in hostile places.

The original Oreus has become one of the best-known jackets in the range. A shocking amount of warmth for its low weight and pack size, coupled with all-weather performance, has made it essential kit for alpinism, trekking, and ski touring. At its heart is ME's  exclusive Aetherm™ synthetic insulation, the result of a 5-year development project to make a fill that was warmer for its weight, lighter, and more breathable than anything else on the market.

The Super Oreus is twice as warm as the standard jacket, with a feature set and cut brought across from expedition down jackets like the K7 and Kryos. Crucially, the Super Alpine HC Insulated Hood provides protection that extends the jacket’s performance into the most severe weather, whether using a helmet or not.

Drilite Loft 10D outer fabric is completely windproof, highly weather-resistant, and extremely light.  The Mountain fit means you can layer over a shell when required whilst not being swamped if wearing the Super Oreus over lighter layers. 4 outer pockets combine with 2 large inner mesh pockets for stashing gloves and other essentials.
